Every year during the holiday season, the Mira Costa girls dance team sell holiday wreaths. The wreaths vary in price from $20 to $60, and each wreath is dropped off by a member of the dance team.
“We had the wreaths delivered to the student parking lot where we unloaded and organized them,” junior Mackenzie Krauch said.
Wreaths could be pre-ordered from Cos- ta dancers or on the MBX website. Costa offered an option of six different-sized wreaths.
“We would deliver the wreaths or they got pick them up,” junior Ashley Miller said. “A red bow would come with each one if the buyer chose to add it on.”
After sorting the wreaths with the base- ball teams, parent and dance volunteers, they were then distributed on Dec. 3. The fundraiser was a success for the program.
And, according to Miller, the dance team managed to sell a grand total of around 600 wreaths.
“Selling wreaths is one of my favorite fundraisers we do with the team,” junior Josie Mcalla said. “It’s super simple, and the customers are always so happy to see their greenery. It’s also fun driving around town and seeing wreaths that we’ve sold on various homes.”
Both the JV and varsity teams hold this fundraiser annually. By selling wreaths, the girls are able to help raise money for attending regional and national dance com- petitions that the Costa competition team participates in.
According to senior captain Sam Gin, the dance team would not be the same without these competitions. For the dance team, the fundraiser is great a way to ring in the holi- day season while supporting their program financially.
