Costa girls lacrosse team partnered with See’s Candies for an annual holiday fundraiser from Nov. 15 to Dec. 2. The lacrosse players were encouraged to send a link to the storefront to their friends, family and residents of the community. All profits from purchases made using the link went directly to the lacrosse team’s booster club.
“The fundraiser will help us pay for equipment for practice and transportation to games, so we can get the most out of our season this year,” sophomore and mid- fielder Elizabeth Witherell said.
Available from the storefront were vari- ous chocolates and sweets produced by See’s Candies, a candy company that has been around since 1921. This fundraiser re- quired a collective effort from all members of the girls lacrosse team for a successful outcome.
“It is important that we all do our part by asking friends and family to purchase for our fundraiser,” sophomore and defender Gia Dionisio said.
All the orders were sent directly to the house of the purchaser, which allowed for people from all over to participate. This year, this method was adopted to eradicate any transportation difficulties a fundraiser typically provides to encourage more buyers and more profit for the program, no matter if they are local or not.
“I got my cousins to purchase from the storefront, which was nice because they live in New York, so they were happy to be included with the opportunity to sup- port my sport,” Dionisio.
This is an annual holiday fundraiser organized by Dan Sepaher, head of the girls lacrosse booster club.
The money raised will help the lacrosse team overcome any financial obstacle as it enter its upcoming season in January.
“Even though participating in the fund- raiser is not a requirement for our team, it will benefit all of us in the future, and that is our goal when trying to raise money dur- ing the holidays,” Dionisio said.
