Ava shares her love for love

Mwah! Love is in the air everyone! I love Valentine’s Day. Hearts, chocolate, flowers, all things red and pink, and best of all, so much love! Even if you don’t have a Valentine, I think the day is still worth celebrating. It’s really the only day of the year dedicated to chocolate-covered strawberries and rom-coms, what’s not to love?

Love looks different to everyone and that is what makes it so precious. Maybe you love someone or something, I love a lot of things. I love my friends and family and soft-serve and I really love the beach too.  Regardless of what or who you love, let them know and let your appreciation be overwhelming because life’s too short not to love!

Love is a packed word. While on one hand it gets used loosely, it can really solidify our feelings for someone, and that should always be taken seriously.

My neighbor, who has been married to her husband for over 50 years, shared her experience with love with me. Through happy tears and heartfelt stories, she emphasized the importance of commitment and sincerity. These are two things she insisted were crucial in solidifying love, ugh how sweet. Every evening they take walks together, holding hands no matter what. They wrote letters to each other while her husband was away on assignment to ensure they never lost touch. The tears are coming back; you can’t tell me this isn’t straight out of a movie.

Couples like these have a special place in my heart. I admire so much how people can stay together for so long and still be so in love.  I hope one day that will be me; don’t you?

The point is, love is so beautiful and exciting and I cannot wait for all of us to experience it one day, no matter what form it comes in. These kinds of stories remind me that while we all are very different from each other, there is something underlying that connects us all, our ability to love. So with that being said, perhaps Valentine’s Day not only gets enjoyed through Dove chocolates and pretty flowers, but also serves as a reminder to love and recognize all the special things around us.

I wish you all a sweet rest of February, oh, and I thought of another thing I love: writing this column!

Until March,

Xoxo,

Ava
