MBUSD hosts second annual Social and Emotional Learning week

CLUB DAY: On Wednesday Mar. 8, 2023 ASB hosted their Club Day during lunch in the Mustang Mall. Clubs represent themselves and sell food items like In-N-Out burgers, pizza, and boba to help fundraise their clubs and attract more members.

MBUSD is celebrating their district-wide Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) week Mar. 6-10, 2023 with events on MBUSD campuses promoting student well-being, positive relationships, and the importance of maintaining a kind, safe and caring environment on campus.

Various events on Mira Costa’s campus will take place throughout the week. This includes presentations from cyber safety speakers (3/6), club day (3/8), gratitude activities (3/8), rock painting (3/9), and a Holi Festival (3/10). Additionally, SEL activities are also taking place at Grand View, Meadows, Pacific, Pennekamp, Robinson, and Manhattan Beach Middle School as well.

“When I walked into school Monday, I was overwhelmed thinking about the week I have ahead of me,” freshman Maya Rauch said. “A few minutes later, after receiving positivity stickers and encouraging words from students in the SEL program, my mood was completely changed. All of a sudden I was motivated for the week ahead of me. After realizing a small act of kindness can make a big difference, I gave extra stickers to my friends.”
