Coaches from 690 schools across 36 states in the U.S. submitted entry requests. According to junior Avana Zenner, each event has a qualifying time that an athlete must reach in order to compete. However, because there are so many entries, having the sufficient time doesn’t guarantee an invitation.

“The fact that Arcadia is so exclusive and competitive makes it such a special event,” Zenner said. “It’s awesome to see all the different athletes who travel here to compete.”

According to Zenner, most of the distance races, along with a few relays, occurred on April 7. Athletes also competed in events such as hurdle races, jump events, pole vaulting, and throwing at the meet.

“Having such great representation from a lot of our event groups in track was awesome,” senior Anna Chittenden said.

Costa’s Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team placed first, and its shuttle hurdle team placed second. The boys DMR team set a personal record of 10:27.
