Costa defeated Redondo Union high school’s eSports team in a match on April 18 at 4 p.m. The match was composed of 24 rounds, each composed of two teams of five competing in Valorant, a first-person shooting game.
Costa’s eSports team has been in existence for two years. According to eSports adviser and Costa computer science teacher Ken Brenan, Costa’s eSports team hopes to continue to improve and wants to gain CIF status like other sports on campus.
“The team started off well,” said Brenan. “The first two matches they won, then Redondo came back, then it went back and forth for a few matches. Then, they really took off from there to win the match.”
