Led by director of choirs Kate Crellin, Costa choir hosted the annual Spring Concert at 7 p.m. on
June 6 named “Rejoice and Sing” in the auditorium featuring a variety of performances.
The program started with the a cappella group Coterie singing a rendition of “Landslide,”
arranged by Maryanne Muglia. The Muscle group followed with a performance of “Anything
Goes,” by Don Gray. The two groups then duetted “The Night We Met,” arranged by Crellin.
“Being part of this program is so uniquely special and our director, Kate Crellin, has done a
fantastic job this year and has gone above and beyond,” said junior Jessilyn Reyes. “She’s truly
such a wonderful director and one of the reasons the people within this program are so close
and tight knit.”
Costa Voices performed next, singing “Thula Klizeo,” by Joseph Shabalala, and “Rejoice and
Sing,” by Rollo Dilworth. Several members of the group sang solos for their final song, “Ain’t No
Mountain High Enough,” arranged by Roger Emerson. The concert also had performances by
the Choral Union, Vocal Ensemble, and the Europe Tour Choir. The Mira Costa Jazz Band,
directed by Joel Carlson, with several choir singers for a Jazz Collaboration, performing “On a
Clear Day,” arranged by Darmon Meador.
“It’s really bittersweet thinking about the last concert because it was the last opportunity that we
get to sing with the graduating senior class, “ said Reyes. “However, I will always treasure the
friendships I’ve made within this program; they’ve become some of my closest friends.”
