The Mira Costa girls water polo team faced Edison in their first CIF game of the year on Feb. 17. Despite the great efforts of the girls, Costa lost the game 13-6, ending their season.
When the game started, the competition looked to be about even. After the first period, Edison began to show dominance. By the end of the first half, the score was 8-2.
Both of Costa’s goals from the first half were scored by senior Marisa Purcell. Edison maintained their lead for the rest of the game and although senior Emily Milstead, junior Sara Booth and Purcell each made contributions to the team’s score, the game ended with a 13-6 loss.
This game ends Costa’s girls water polo season with an overall record of 12-7.
