Senior Jack Fiorito was named lacrosse All-Bay League MVP due to his hardwork and sportsmanship he exhibited during his successful four years as a Costa athlete.

“I’ve been playing lacrosse for nine years,” Fiorito said. “I started it because all my friends were playing, and it looked super fun. I’m fortunate it turned into this.”

According to Fiorito, he has been a part of Costa’s lacrosse program for all four years and has improved greatly from his freshman year. He made new friendships and learned to become a better lacrosse player by watching upperclassmen. Fiorito said he was able to have a great lacrosse career with the support he received from his teammates and coaches.

“My favorite part about playing for Costa is how close we all are,” Fiorito said. “We are all friends, and it made playing lacrosse way more fun. When I first started playing lacrosse at Costa, I felt slightly uncomfortable playing with a team full of upperclassmen, but as the years went on, I started to feel more acquainted.”

During Fiorito’s sophomore and junior year, he received second-team Bay League honors. This season, Fiorito improved, earning Bay League MVP. Fiorito said being awarded with All-Bay league MVP was a huge accomplishment and testament to all his hard work. As a freshman, Fiorito had no idea what sport he would end up playing during his high school years, but he leaned toward playing lacrosse full time, and many benefits arose from it.

“Growing up, I played many sports, and I had no clue when I started lacrosse that it was going to be the sport I most predominantly play,” Fiorito said. “As I kept getting older, I slowly stopped  playing  other  sports until it was only lacrosse.”

Bay league MVP is a prestigious award for Costa lacrosse players. Going into the season, Fiorito’s goal was to win the Bay League. According to Fiorito, winning MVP was a byproduct of his winning mentality along with the support of his teammates.

“I wouldn’t have won MVP if it weren’t for my teammates because they pushed me to be a better player,” Fiorito said. “This year was great because they were there with me. We all had a great time, and we turned out to be the best team during my time at Costa.”
