“The Fall of The House of Usher” was released on Thursday October 12th on Netflix. The show is already ranked the #1 show on Netflix due to it’s spookiness in the current Halloween season.
“The Fall of the House of Usher” is a tale by Poe inspired by the genre of Gothic Literature.Poe uses a castle with shadowy corners set in the mid-19th century. The House of Usher is dark and appears to look haunted. The use of this setting highlights the spooky atmosphere of the house.
“The Fall of the House of Usher” is divided into eight parts. The middle six episodes, each named after a different Poe story, show the death of one of the Usher kids. Each of these episodes, goes on, as suspense grew and keeps viewers out the edge of their seats.
The cast consists of Carla Gugino, Ruth Codd, Rahul Kohli, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, and Mark Hamill. These characters are constantly seen throughout each episode.
Bruce Greenwood, who attends a joint funeral for his children. Roderick Usher, in his crumbling mansion, confides in Auguste Dupin, portrayed by Carl Lumbly, who is based on Poe’s famous recurring detective character.
From the start it’s revealed the family members are destined for grisly fates. The plot focuses not just on “what” happens but “why” it happens, a question that keeps the audience engaged and wanting more. The storyline of the film is filled with lots of mysterious settings and plot twists which could grasp the audience’s attention.
“The Fall of The House of Usher” is a perfect show for the halloween season. The series is blood curling with its jumpscares and blood. Although the series recently came out, its success is continuing to rise throughout the days on Netflix.
This show brings jump scares and fright due to the darkness throughout the film. Each episode is around one hour long, which is perfect for binge watching on Netflix.
