Everyone used to enjoy going to fun and interactive hometown fair booths as a kid! All of the prizes and different games, it’s hard to choose which games to play. Well the Mira Costa dance team gives many options, they are hosting two booths with two different activities! (48)

The hometown fair is Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th. Both of the Mira Costa dance team booths are open from 10am to 6pm on both days. A parent volunteer, Allison Rainey, explained exactly where the booths are located. (40)

“The puppy park booth is located in the live oak field at booth 507, next to the mira costa drama tech and face painting booth,” parent volunteer, Allison Rainey said, “the dino dig booth is located on dorsey field, booth 709, directly next to the LAX ball shooting booth.” (49)

The dance team has been around for at least 13 years. Some of us may be wondering how long the dance team has been participating in the Hometown Fair, Victoria Brown answered this question. (34)

“From what I know, the dance team has been participating in the hometown fair for at least as long as I have been here,” the dance team coach, Victoria Brown said, “13 years.” (33)

The dance team wanted every girl to have the opportunity to have a shift, so they decided to do two booths rather than just one. Brown explained why they made this decision to host two booths. (36)

“We decided to run two booths rather than just one most likely because we have grown so much over the years,” Brown said, “we’ve gone from around 14 girls to around 60.” (32)

Each dance team booth has a different game. The two different games, digging for dino eggs and digging for puppy poop, are really fun for little kids. The cost is a huge part of it though. A parent volunteer, Michelle Hanson, told us how much it costs to play. (50)

“For both the puppy park and dino dig games,” Hanson said, “it costs 2 dollars for 1 dig, 4 dollars for 2 digs, and 5 dollars for 3 digs.” (29)

The thing most kids are thrilled about is the prizes! The dance team booths offer great prizes that anyone can win if you just come and participate! Allison Rainey explained what the prizes are for participating! (36)

“For both of the booths, you can dig a treasure with numbers on it, 1 through 5,” Rainey said, “The higher the number, the better the prize. Some prizes include candy, small toys, bigger toys, small stuffed animals, large stuffed animals, and more.” (43)

Each girl on the dance team will run a shift for 2 hours and 30 minutes. This will be a great experience for all of the girls because it lets them all experience leadership and team bonding. Hailey Fisher, dance team captain explains her past experiences at the booths. (49)

“Running the Dance Team booth is definitely fun and a great way to bond with the team,” Fisher said, “It is also a great way to spread awareness and encourage younger kids to join the team in the future.” (39)

The dance team girls are excited for this event, especially some of the freshmen, as it is their first time working these booths. One of the new freshmen on the dance team, Mackenzie Weber, explained how she feels about running the booth. (42)

“I am very excited to run the booth to support the dance team and encourage others to join.” Weber said, “It will be a great event to promote the dance team and earn funds for dance team events.” (38)

Raising money for the dance team is a great idea because expenses can be very high. There are a lot of dance team activities throughout the year and there are costs that come with them. Hanson talked about where the money is going. (43)

“The money raised from the hometown fair goes directly back to the dance team,” Hanson said, “they use these profits to support the mira costa dance team activities throughout the year.” (31)

Now the real question is how the dance team makes these booths happen. There were a lot of parents that were involved in the making. Rainey told us who was involved and who made all of this happen. (39)

“The parent volunteers were a main factor of how the dance team was able to pull these booths off,” Rainey said, “the parents that signed up to be a part of the booth committee were Kate Pennino, Ashleigh Krauch, Kelly Tran, Michelle Hanson, and myself. We are all so excited for the fair!” (53)

All of the girls on the team are so excited to run the dance team booths. They are also so excited to spread joy and have a good time! Zoe Mellinger, a freshman on the dance team, told us how excited she is to run the dance team booth. (39)

“I am so excited to run the dance team booth this year,” Mellinger said, “I am looking forward to seeing all the joy it brings to little kids’ faces that come to the booths. I am also looking forward to bonding with my team!” (44)
