Costa hosted it’s annual Art Night on Oct 27 from 5-7p.m, outside room 109 to show off and sell student artwork.

Each student got to display their work. Each table was filled with different concepts and interpretations of art like sketches to graphic design and a wide variety of styles ranging from scrap books, posters, paintings and drawings.

“With all my extra time, starting to do art in my free time gave me the ability to create a new hobby,” said junior Ava Larson who sold paintings. “I can initially be expressive in many different ways with my art.”

According to Larson, each artist was selling different items based on what each person created and wanted to sell. Many items varied based on the students’ interests in art.

“Art Night is a gathering of people to show off their art and sell it”, said junior Cory Kluthe. “I enjoy being around people that are doing the same thing as me and wanting to showcase their talent.”

According to Kluthe, Art Night is a great way for everyone to show off their individual type of art that they want to be showcased. Each person is able to take a glance at all the different types of art that can stem new ideas from other artists. Making this is a great way to get to know each other and the art community that share the same interests.

“I now can showcase my progress during things like Art Night to other students,” said Kluthe.“A sketch book is nice to have a bunch of art and stuff that doesn’t need to be initially showcase worthy but have all my art in one place and so I can go back and show my progress.”

The Costa art teacher, Autumn Chervenak, concluded that art night allowed like minded artistic students to connect and interact with other student artists. Senior Daisy Lozier helped organize the night to give students a chance for student artists to showcase and sell work.

“Art Night is a great opportunity for students to share the abundance of talent that is shared at our school,” said Chervenak. “It’s a space to have fun and enjoy food, music, games and a place for students to build confidence in their community as young professional artists.”
