With the help of Link Crew, Costa hosted a Spooky Movie Night on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. to showcase the movie Coraline.
Link Crew set up Spooky Movie Night in the Mustang Mall. Participants were encouraged to bring blankets and sleeping bags for comfort and warmth. Link Crew also sold various food, drinks and snacks.
“I had an amazing time planning, organizing and setting up the snack stands with my fellow Link Crew members, ” said Jack Jadon. “I think this event is an amazing way to get the students excited for Halloween and spend time with their friends.”
Coraline is a horror film about a young girl who discovers a secret door which uncovers an alternate world. This world slightly mirrors her own life while projecting a more positive outcome of it.
“The movie Coraline was the perfect movie for Costa to play on the Spooky Halloween Movie Night,” said Zoey Oliver. “It didn’t terrify the freshman but it successfully made everyone a little scared.”
Spooky Movie Night was free admission; however the snacks required cash. Link Crew sold various items including popcorn, pizza, hot chocolate, juice and water. They also sold several types of candy and sweet treats.
“The snacks were a great addition to the Spooky Halloween Movie Night,” said Jadon. “The snacks made people want to come and participate as well as created an atmosphere similar to a movie theater for the students.”
Link Crew is an on-campus student organization that involves both students as well as faculty. Link Crew helps to integrate new students into the Costa environment as well as plan, organize and put on events, according to Oliver.
“Link Crew is an opportunity for students when wanting to become involved with Costa and supporting others,” said Oliver. “I love the amount of events we put on and participate in. It really makes Costa an inviting atmosphere.”
The film was shown on a big screen in the Mustang Mall where students and faculty gathered to kick off Halloween weekend. With warm drinks, blankets, and even pillows, the students had an amazing time celebrating Halloween, according to Jadon.
“After the movie, everyone seemed like they were having fun and had an amazing time,” said Gwynn Parker. “People from all different clubs and groups were able to interact and integrate with each other.”
