Costa boys soccer played their first game of the seasons on Nov. 28th, against West Torrance. The game was home and Costa won 7-0. Although the score differential was great, the players stayed humble.
Senior varsity captain Marco Bottene said, “It’s one game down, but we still have 30 to go.”
Marco scored 2 goals in the first half and 2 in the second totaling to 4 goals, more than the rest of his team was able to score. Marco was not accompanied by his normal teammates also, due to the fact that 11 players were unable to play in the game because of their club commitments.
Head Coach Brown says, “ Given the circumstances, 11 of our players are waiting for the club commitments. Due to this we brought up a few JV players, and being able to win in a game 7-0 gives a lot of hope for how the whole program not only varsity will players.”
Looking forward, Costa has another game tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 30. against South away. They also play Monday, Dec. 4 away against Cabrillo. With that big win, the coaching staff feels confident that Costa soccer will be playing to win it all.
“Looking into the season we have high expectations.” Coach Brown said. “Our end goal is to win everything.”
