This past Tuesday, the Mustangs beat Peninsula 53-39 in a blowout, led by junior forwards Jacob De Armas and Eneasi Piuleini. With this hard-fought win, the Mustangs improved their record to 16-8 overall and 4-3 in Bay League play.

The Mustangs previously defeated the Panthers early in the season with a crushing score of 72-29. After a tough defensive performance from the Panthers, Costa  struggled to put points on the board to start the game.

“We had a tough time getting going at the start of the game,” senior guard James Reach said. “We matched their intensity and were able to take control of the game.”

The Mustangs, now ranked 3rd in the Bay League and 74th in the state, have another challenge ahead as they take on Palos Verdes High School in a rivalry matchup. PV lost to the Mustangs 64-50 previously this season in a very physical game. According to junior guard Bryson Bryker, it will not be a walk in the park. The Mustangs will face the Sea Kings tonight at 7:00 at Palos Verdes High School. According to junior forward Mac Bedner, Costa looks to make a statement against PV and establish themselves among the best teams in the Bay League.

“Palos Verdes is a very solid team on both sides of the ball,” Bryker said. “It’s always a good matchup against them because they’re super physical and battle hard every play.”
