As the end of the school year approaches, 18 total Biotechnology seniors who have been in this elective since their freshman year get the opportunity to have their own graduation which was held on May 30th, 5pm, in Mr. Nodado’s room. There, they celebrated their hard work and achievements in this challenging course.

“Biotech is an incredible opportunity to learn lab skills in a research setting and apply them in the real world through outside internship and research opportunities.” Said Veronica Fish, senior in Biotechnology and will be attending Stanford University.

Biotech provided the best opportunities for students wanting to major or have a big part in biology or technology, or both. Fish completed this class along with some of her closest friends whom she met within the course and wonderful teachers to help and support whenever needed.

Ernesto Nodado, one of the teachers instructing Biotech, said, “We’re very excited for them but definitely sad that they are leaving, especially since the group has been our students for 4 years.”

As the seniors graduate, some of the colleges they are attending include Stanford, UCLA, Johns Hopkins, USC, UC-Irvine, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and other amazing colleges with great opportunities for them to excel in.

Biotech isn’t for the weak. There are numerous biotech labs including PCR of DNA, transforming bacteria, and so much more. As well as these labs, the seniors were also required to perform an internship at hospitals and university labs, which made this elective even more special and unique to others.
