Mira Costa High School recently hosted a vibrant Gay Pride event, uniting students in a celebration of diversity and positivity.
“Our school has a lot of hate in it sometimes, but this event helps bring us together and spread positivity and unite,” said Ava Bruner, President of the (GCA).
The Pride event was packed with a variety of activities that aimed to educate and engage the student body. These included a colorful parade that wound its way through the campus, interactive workshops on LGBTQ+ issues, and heartfelt speeches from both students and faculty members. The atmosphere was one of celebration and solidarity, with students expressing their identities freely and finding common ground with their peers.
“An event that is out and colorful and open can help students that are struggling with their identities find community and support,” remarked Lolie Prelle, a (GCA) member.
Beyond celebrating LGBTQ+ identities, the event also raised awareness and funds for local LGBTQ+ organizations, emphasizing the school’s commitment to inclusivity and support.
“We want everyone in Costa to be able to celebrate pride instead of bringing it down, and that’s exactly what this event does, it celebrates and brings us together,” added Ava Bruner.
The Gay Pride event at Mira Costa High School serves as a powerful reminder of the positive change that can occur when a community embraces diversity and inclusivity. By coming together to celebrate and support each other, the students at Mira Costa High are setting a strong example of unity for all.
