The Mira Costa girls softball team played two games in the Brea Olida tournament to kick off their season on March 5 against St. Lucy’s/Glendora and Laguna Beach.
The Mustangs shut out St. Lucy’s/Glendora, with a score of 5-0. With the win, Mira Costa continued on to play another game against Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach is rated 6th in division two and the Mustangs lost by a score of 7-5. The girls record is currently 1-1, with a Bay League record of 0-0.
The top performer of the first game was junior Breanna Kelly who pitched a two hit shutout against St. Lucy’s/Glendora. Also, junior Stefanni Lajeunesse contributed to the win with two doubles and two runs batted in.
The top performers of the game against Laguna Beach were junior Katie Saunders who had a home run and senior Chloe Krasnoff who also contributed with a long ball.
The girls face some of the best competition in Southern California on March 9 when Mira Costa plays a double header against Cypress.
