Seniors Luke Crandall, Jack Swenson, and Bryce Nicholson work together to create a local trash cleaning business. The “Clearbin” initiative not only provides them with a productive summer job, but also makes a significant positive impact on the community.
The business is run locally cleaning home trash cans in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, and Redondo, seeing that the south bay is very tightly knit. The boys charge 50 dollars for the first can, and 20 dollars for every one after that.
“This business started off as a small idea, however we decided it was a good way to make cash and start something new,” said Nicholson.
At the beginning of summer, “Clearbin” put in $300 into materials such as a pressure washer, and environmentally friendly soap. The business has now made just around $1,000. With quality cleanings, they have become popular around the community.
“We started by test-cleaning our own trash bins before we started on other peoples.” Said Nicholson
The entrepreneurs have been able to grow their business through personal advertisements posted on various websites, including Next Door To instagram. The “Clearbin” business continues to increase daily in customers, with the boys emphasizing customer satisfaction as a number one priority.
“The boys did an amazing job!” said Mom, Christy Philips, “They started something really great, and it’s benefiting everyone.”
Customers have been overwhelmingly satisfied with the outcome of their trash cans post cleaning, and have supported the expansion of “Clearbin” through word of mouth to others. With their door to door personalized sales approach, Crandall, Swenson, and Nicholson strive to help the community on an effortful task.
“We intend on expanding the company by reaching out to farther communities.” Crandall said. “[Clearbin] also hopes to add more associates by the end of 2024.”
