The ‘80s were unique years filled with big hair, Madonna, drug use and strange fashion. “Take Me Home Tonight,” puts all of that ‘80s cliché in viewers’ faces but fails to provide many funny moments.

“Take Me Home Tonight” tells the story of Matt (Topher Grace), a former high school geek who realizes what he needs to do with his life while pursuing his high school crush, Tori, all in one night.

The movie was advertised as a film with “The Hangover”-like humor, and in that respect it fails to deliver. The ads promise a raunchy and funny movie that turns out rather flat. The movie is filled with typical ‘80s quirks that only a viewer who grew up in the decade could truly appreciate.

Matt is 23 years old, an MIT graduate that works at Sun Coast Video, and is unsure about his future plans.
The entirety of the movie is pretty cliché. Essentially, Matt pulls a crazy stunt to prove himself to his crush, Tori, and everyone else ends up happy.

Although the movie disappointed, there were pleasing moments as well. Comedian Demetri Martin plays a handicap, vulgar banker that adds needed humor.

Popular music from the 1980s is an essential aspect of the film. The movie itself is named after the song “Take Me Home Tonight” by Eddie Money.

Overall, “Take Me Home Tonight” fails to satisfy the pubilc. The story line was cute, but that did not overpower the cheesiness and predictability. Do not go out of your way to see this movie; wait for the DVD and then maybe think about renting it.

“Take Me Home Tonight” is out in theaters now and is rated R.
