After publicly announcing the creation of the La Vista Basketball Association, the total amount of games played sits at five. And while some might say that we haven’t done much, it is important to remember that the LVBA has played more games than the MMN Basketball Association, which doesn’t exist. More importantly, we still have to put in a facility request for that grudge match. It’s still going down, okay? We even used the same headline as last time.
In the world of Costa sports, things are looking up for several spring season teams. Boys tennis definitively won its first two matches, and boys lacrosse remains unbeaten. For now, just enjoy the upcoming spring sports and hope for the best. Wait, scratch that. Instead of hoping, BOOYAH is hereby officially challenging every single spring team to win every single game from now on. The pressure’s on, and due to the challenge from BOOYAH, every team should easily accomplish the task at hand.
In the world of actually real sports, even more exciting stuff is happening. Football players are sitting down and talking contracts with NFL team owners. If neither the NFL nor the NBA have seasons next year because of labor negotiations, they’ll have to make a prime time sport out of the hardball they’re playing in court because Americans will need something to watch on Monday nights, and it sure won’t be MLS.
And because Booyah, erm, BOOYAH, wouldn’t be itself without a regular proclamation, we’d like to announce the addition of Casey Zirbel, opinion editor and LVBA commissioner extraordinaire, to the author team. He’s funny, but we mostly picked him because he’s the most die- hard Clipper fan around and we stick up for the underdog in this column. And because we needed to pin the writing work on someone. Okay, okay, and we have an unhealthy obsession with bad photoshop jobs.
