Track takes another victory

On March 10, the Mira Costa track team hosted Beverly Hills High School and North Torrance High School. For the boys, the Mustangs won with 74 points, Beverly Hills finished second with 57 and North scored 39 points. On the girls side, Mira Costa defeated the opponents with 82 points while North came in second with 50 and Beverly Hills followed with 38.

The big news of the day on the boys side came from the pole vault pit. Senior Ryan Morrow set a new school record and won the event, clearing a height of 14’8”. In the girls pole vaulting division, the Mustangs placed first, second, and fourth while Santa Monica finished third. Sophomore Meghan Burns won the girls pole vault.

The girls earned their points in the hurdles, led by junior Acacia Moore who won both hurdle events. Additionally, the distance events added points. Senior Aryn Foland led the 1600 sweep as the Mustangs finished first, second and third in the event.  Junior Kelli Sugimoto won the 3200.

With these wins, the Mustangs continue their undefeated records. On March 12, some of the athletes will travel to the Culver City Relays to compete.
