Mira Costa boys volleyball is the best of the Best of the West Tournament

In the Best of the West tournament in Poway, San Diego, the Mira Costa boys volleyball team earned first place in the gold division playoffs. The tournament games took place on March 11 and 12.

Each match was determined by victor of two out of three. The Mustangs first beat St. John Bosco 25-12 and 25-21. Next, they defeated St. Ignatius 25-17 and 25-19. Finally, Mira Costa won the set against Valencia 23-25, 25-20, and 15-8. These victories put Mira Costa in first place in the pool play.

In the gold division playoffs, Costa beat Crespi 25-14 and 25-16, La Costa Canyon 25-19 and 25-13, Bellarmine 25-22 and 25-17, and Santa Margarita 25-22 and 25-22. With these wins, the Mustangs won the gold division playoffs and they were named the victors of the tournament.

Throughout the tournament, the entire team contributed. Senior Kameron Bain was the tournament MVP with 94 assists and 11 blocks. Defensively, he led the team. Other notable contributions were from seniors DJ White, who had 23 kills and 13 digs, and Tony Ensbury who had 33 digs.

Costa plays Orange Lutheran on March 15 at home in Fisher Gym. Costa has hopes of maintaining their perfect 8-0 record for the season.
