People assume the songs playing from an iPod were bought on iTunes but recently, that’s not always the case. New websites, with free downloads of the latest hits and most loved mixtapes, are now up and running.

Instead of wasting their time trying to buy illegal songs from LimeWire or FrostWire, people have lately discovered these websites. Not only can you download free music, you can explore new artists, remixes, and mixtapes.

Tim Weber, the founder of Goodmusicallday.com, was only 20 years old and attending Belmont University when he created his website for music. Goodmusicallday.com is a website with hundreds of new mixtapes coming in continuously. It’s also very popular for its wide range of remixes of present hit songs.

The website has a College Crew, which is their version of a street team that has been trying to get hundreds of schools on board with support in the next few months. They offer free merchandise, prizes, a personal bio on the website, and VIP access to GoodMusicAllDay shows. Applications to join the College Crew can be found on goodmusicallday.com/college-crew.

Thissongissick.com was created by University of Colorado student, Nick Guarino. After occupying his time helping out at various concerts and festivals and being a part of the ‘mashup’ group Sorry For Partying, he decided to create a website based on quality over quantity.

On thissongissick.com, you won’t find as many songs as other free download websites, but you will find new and better produced songs. Guarino tries to let his listeners appreciate new songs, which is something he believes gets lost these days with so much digital music.

FutureSwag.com, powered by TypePad, is another extremely popular website for great remixes. Updated very quickly. FutureSwag keeps listeners wanting more. Their songs tie many different artists together, creating a new beat that people don’t want to miss out on.

Themaskedgorilla.com, the #1 new school hip hop website, was founded in January of 2009. It is owned and run by a 19 year old college student. This website focuses mainly on new rap and hip-hop songs and is updated multiple times a day.

Not only is The Masked Gorilla a great place to find new, upcoming rappers, it includes many celebrated artists in the rap/hip-hop genre. Over 3,000 posts have been made since the start of themaskedgorilla.com, solely covering new school hip-hop artists.

Recently, these websites have featured amazing artists that aren’t entirely well-known yet. Artists like Mac Miller, PJ Simas, Chris Webby, and Sam Adams are featured and better than ever.

But along with these new artists, the websites feature popular, well-known artists like Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Angus & Julia Stone, Coldplay, Drake, Akon, David Guetta, Wiz Khalifa, and Kid Cudi.

GoodMusicAllDay, ThisSongIsSick, FutureSwag, and TheMaskedGorilla are all legal websites. The continuously update their music and keep listeners wanting more. If there’s a something about a song you just might not like, these websites most likely have that problem fixed.
