After reaching the top seed in CIF, the Mira Costa boys volleyball team won their first round of CIF on May 10. The Mustangs defeated El Dorado 3-1 at home in the Fisher Gym.
Costa won the first two games easily with scores of 25-16 and 25-13. Hard hitting from senior DJ White and junior Chris Orenic helped the Mustangs overpower El Dorado.
El Dorado made an unexpected comeback in the third game and beat the Mustangs 17-25. However, this was not enough to take the whole game under control and Costa won the fourth game 25-13. White and senior Jake Miller ran the game with their kills and blocks.
The Mustangs face Simi Valley at Simi on May 12 in the second round of CIF. Costa’s record is now 32-1 overall for the season.
