Movies breaking the mold of the common, repetitive mold which defines the chick flick genre are few and far between. Fortunately, for those looking for a new experience, “Remember Me” is far from the typical romantic drama.

It is a compelling and unpredictable story that takes viewers on a gripping journey and undoubtedly leave viewers speechless in its final moments.

The film tells the story of a troubled and lost young man, Tyler Hawkins (Robert Pattinson), who is struggling to find his way in the face of the deep internal conflict and tragedy his family has suffered. Arrested for fighting with a cop, his friend dares him to ask the cop’s daughter, Ally Craig (Emilie de Ravin), on a date.

Tyler unexpectedly falls for her after realizing that they share a unique bond over the tragedies they have endured within their families. However, when Ally finds out that Tyler knew her father all along, the same circumstances that brought them together threaten to tear the two apart.

The intricate and powerfully enthralling storyline of “Remember Me” allows viewers to gain a better understanding of each of the characters’ internal conflicts, all of which are deeply interconnected. The ways the characters’ lives are unexpectedly intertwined throughout the movie is highly original and will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Intricate development of the characters and their relationships with one another compliment the film’s compelling plotline.

The fluidity and chemistry between the characters is one of the film’s best attributes. The personalities and similar struggles of Tyler and Ally compliment each other uniquely, forming a believable connection between the characters.

The bond is depicted such that their relationship doesn’t appear forced or rushed, which is a feat hard to achieve in many romantic dramas.

The unusual personalities and intricacies of the characters are flawlessly depicted by the actors in this film. Pattinson, in particular, does a phenomenal job of playing the rebellious yet charming Tyler.

It is easy to become transfixed by Pattinson’s brooding and peculiar charm, but his acting alone leaves a longstanding impression on viewers. His poignant but seemingly effortless depiction of his character’s internal struggle displays a talent for acting that far surpasses his role as Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” series.

Whether viewers are aiming to find a compelling love story, a tale of a powerful coming of age, or just interested in admiring Robert Pattinson, “Remember Me” is an absolute must-see. Ultimately, it will leave viewers with an extraordinary and unforgettable sense of triumph and loss..

“Remember Me” is rated PG-13 and is playing in theatres nationwide.
