Tucked inconspicuously amongst the various food establishments on Artesia Boulevard is Rod’s Charbroiler, a purveyor of cheap, yet delicious, eats. At 2600 Artesia Blvd., Rod’s is a straight shot from Mira Costa, conveniently located to give this outstanding restaurant a try.
Rod’s offers a wide array of options, starting with breakfast combos and ending in any number of burgers, sandwiches and wraps. Their menu also incorporates elements of various ethnic cuisines, including Greek and Mexican-styled options.
While not entirely unique in the amount of choices available, Rod’s offers a solid variety of dishes at admirably affordable prices. This includes combo meals for less than the price more upscale establishments ask for a single burger or sandwich. With the Deluxe Char-Burger Combo priced at a mere $4.59, Rod’s fills patron’s stomachs without emptying their wallets.
The restaurant offers booth-style seating arrangements in addition to some sparse outdoor tables. The outdoor view of a parking lot and apartment complexes leaves a little to be desired, robbing the diner of the traditional burger joint atmosphere within.
This ambience is complete with the quiet conversation of sparse fellow patrons, the soft humming of newly-upgraded televisions and the shuffling of the chefs as they churn out meals.
The Rod’s experience is a combination of the food, the price and the comfortable, if underwhelming, interior.
