On Thursday, Oct. 13 Mira Costa cross country teams competed in a race away at Palos Verdes in the second Bay League Meet. The race marked the team’s second divisional meet of the season.
The girls placed 3rd overall with 64 points behind Redondo Union, who had 31 points and Palos Verdes, who had 38. The Mustangs were led by senior Jenna Tong, who came in third with a time of 19:45 and Kelli Sugimoto, who finished eighth with 20:34.
The boys team tied for second place with Peninsula High School but fell short in a tie breaker. Palos verdes boys placed first with 27 points, Peninsula placed second with 69 points and Costa placed third with 69 points. Senior Adam Perez led the Mustangs, placing fifth finishing with a time of 16:58. Senior Zach Adler followed in tenth place with a time of 17:12.
Cross country’s next meet will take place on Oct. 22 at the Mount SAC Invitational.
