The Manhattan Beach Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Ben Dale to take over as principal of Mira Costa at its special meeting on July 21.
Dale becomes principal after five years of service by Julie Ruisinger, who recently resigned after taking a job in Texas.
“I believe that [Dale] will be a highly visible, energetic, articulate, collaborative and student-centered leader,” Superintendant Michael Mathews said in a press release.
Dale is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he majored in Spanish. He then earned his teaching credential from Chapman University and his Masters in Education from CSU-Bakersfield.
After teaching all different levels of Spanish in the Antelope Valley School District, Dale served as an assistant principal for Marina High School and Redondo Union High School.
Dale was selected from 23 applicants that was then narrowed down to six candidates. These six candidates were then interviewed by a panel made of Mira Costa teachers, parents, and students. After these interviews, four of the applicants were then interviewed by Matthews and four senior district administrators.
“I know this is an extraordinarily important event for MCHS, and please know that one of my top priorities will be doing all I can to assist in this leadership transition,” Matthews said.
Great article, although there’s more than one space after each period.
