The Mira Costa boys basketball team faced Campbell Hall on Dec. 9 at home in the Fisher Gym. The Mustangs won 71-56 after a close score of 28-25 going into halftime.
“The key was to slow down their 6-7 forward Cole Huff, who we held to 4-16 shooting,” head coach Jeff Amaral said. “Karl Acres and Keith Waddell did a great job against him all night.”
Senior forward Cooper Pugnale led Costa in scoring with 18 points, nine of which came from three-pointers, and seven rebounds. Junior point guard Cole Feaster followed with 16 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Senior guard William Isozaki also added six points and was key in Costa’s defensive effort.
“The game was won with great team defense and our ability to get out in transition and score some easy baskets,” Amaral said.
Costa will travel to Palos Verdes High School on Dec. 13 to participate in the Hilltop Classic Tournament. The Mustangs (5-1) will first face Harvard Westlake in pool play before continuing on to participate in other matches until Dec. 17.
