After a tough loss to Harvard Westlake in the beginning of the Hilltop Classic Tournament in Palos Verdes, the Mira Costa boys basketball team bounced back in its second tournament game at Palos Verdes High School. Costa faced Abbotsford Collegiate, a school from British Columbia in Canada, and won 63-43 on Dec. 14.

“We were able to force them into turnovers in the first half to gain a good-sized halftime lead,” head coach Jeff Amaral said.

Senior Cooper Pugnale led the Mustangs with 14 points and junior Cole Feaster followed closely with 13. Senior Max Watson and junior Oliver Mausner also added nine points each.

“We were able to play all 13 of our players who were suited up,” Amaral said.

Costa (6-2) will face South Torrance on Dec. 16 in the final game of pool play in the Hilltop Classic Tournament at Palos Verdes.
